about us

Simonstown: 2003

Force Five Construction was established in June 2000 where we came out of a civil engineering construction background. We have an education in civil engineering and structures and moved over to the structures side of construction. We eventually settled into the building sector and our scope of work varies from small alterations to new up-market houses and corporate services.

Our carpenters handle all construction carpentry, ranging from roofs and pergolas to the installing of doors, skirtings and timber decks. We also do formwork for concrete decks, beams and staircases, as well as the installation of precast decking systems.

We have traded successfully for more then TWENTY years and have built up a good reputation and good trade contacts with numerous reputable suppliers. During this time we have established a good working relationship with a number of architects and civil engineering practices with whom we work on a fairly regular basis.

We employ a permanent work force, including artisans, gangers and skilled labour. We also make use of regular subcontractors. We are registered with the department of labour and our workforce is covered by the WCA, we are a member of the Building Industry Bargaining Council and we are registered by SARS for VAT, LBS, SDL and UIF.

We service the area south of Ou Kaapse Weg, the deep south, i.e. Simonstown, Kommetjie, Fish Hoek, and Scarborough and Tokai, and also the Southern suburbs Newlands, Constantia as well as Cape Town, up to Campsbay and Northern suburbs Bellville and Durbanville. The scope of contracts undertaken includes extensions and alterations of fairly major proportions as well as refurbishment of historic buildings. We construct up-market residential homes, often in difficult locations and under difficult circumstances requiring engineering background. Tendering and pricing is undertaken inhouse from first principles. We use Microsoft project for construction programs and can provide a cash flow forecast to clients.

All new work is enrolled with the NHBRC prior to commencement. All work is undertaken according to good building practice and in compliance with national building regulations and NHBRC requirements. We have recently changed our building practises to allow for the amendments to the NBR for energy use (SANS10400XA). We have all risk contractors insurance in place. A fair amount of our work is undertaken on behalf of clients who are not in the country and as such progress reports and costings etc are emailed to them directly or discussed with their representatives. We have a standard building contract, based on the JBCC contract for small projects, which covers the duties and obligations of client and builder.

We can introduce architects and structural engineers with whom we work regularly, to fit your style and budget, if required.
